Integración Arcam para Gladys Assistant

Arcam amplifiers and AV processors, local: power, volume, source, audio mode.

info

La documentación de esta integración la escribe su autor y, por ahora, solo está disponible en inglés.

Control your Arcam AV receivers, processors and amplifiers (AVR, AV, SA, ST and PA series, and the JBL Synthesis SDP-55 and SDP-58 processors sharing the protocol) from Gladys, locally, without any cloud: power on, standby, volume, mute, source and audio mode of zone 1.

Important. This integration has never been tested with a real device: it was written from the arcam-fmj library (the one of Home Assistant) and tested against a fake device only. Feedback is welcome. Unofficial integration, not affiliated with Arcam.

Installation

  1. On the device, turn IP control on (setup menu, network settings or "Control") and, to be able to power it on from Gladys, keep the network on in standby (for example "HDMI & IP On" in standby on the AVRs, "Network standby" on the SA amplifiers).
  2. Give the device a fixed IP address in your router (DHCP reservation): the address is the identity of the device in Gladys.
  3. In Gladys, install the Arcam integration, then open its configuration.
  4. Type the IP addresses, separated by commas (for example 192.168.1.40, 192.168.1.41; port 50000 by default). The Find the devices button can also look for them (SSDP search, optional: it cannot cross every network).
  5. Choose the volume cap (40 by default, on the 0 to 99 scale of the display).
  6. The devices appear in the Discovery tab: create them.

The integration keeps a TCP connection open with each device (port 50000): changes made on the device, its remote or the Arcam app reach Gladys at once. Some devices accept a single IP control client at a time: if another app can no longer connect, this may be why. Only the devices typed, created in Gladys, or found by the last search (until they are created) get a connection. Type IPv4 addresses only (no host name): one device typed under two names would show twice.

What you get

FeatureGladys typeNote
Powerbinary state (read only)1 on, 0 in standby or unreachable
Power onbuttononly when the network stays on in standby
Standbybuttonputs the device in standby
Volumemusic / volume (0 to 99)the display scale, capped; not on the PA power amplifiers
Mutebutton (television / mute)each press reads the state then sets the opposite
Sourcelistthe inputs of the model; the list only grows
Audio modeliststereo (2 ch) and multi-channel decode modes; AVRs only

On purpose, no switch: an "everything off" or "everything on" from a voice assistant or a scene neither wakes up nor cuts your amplifier.

The model is read at connection (the AMX answer of the device): it picks the sources, the audio modes and the way each command is sent (direct write on the SA, ST and PA series, RC5 remote codes on the AVRs). An unknown model is handled as the AVR450 series, as arcam-fmj does.

Volume cap

The volume asked from Gladys (dashboard, scene, voice assistant) never goes above the cap of the configuration: a higher volume is set to the cap. The cap is read again just before sending: a new value saved applies at once. The volume set on the device itself (knob, remote, app) is not changed by the integration, except in two cases where Gladys would make it heard:

  • Unmute: when the volume of the device is above the cap, it is first lowered to the cap, then the mute is removed. When the volume cannot be read, nothing is sent.
  • Power on: after the wake-up, the volume is read again and lowered to the cap when above it. When the device is slow to wake up, the integration checks again every 2.5 s for about 15 s, then, up to 2 minutes after the press, lowers the volume to the cap as soon as the device, on, reports it. Once the volume was seen under the cap, it is left alone.

Audio mode

The decode modes depend on the incoming signal: stereo (PCM, analogue) or multi-channel (Dolby, DTS...). The list shows both kinds, marked "(2 ch)" and "(multi-ch)". Before each change, the signal format is read again: a mode of the other kind is refused, nothing sent.

Standby and reconnection

  • In standby with the network on, the device stays reachable: the Power state goes to 0, the Power on button wakes it up, and the other commands are refused by the device ("Refused by the device").
  • In standby without network, or switched off, the device no longer answers: it shows as off, is named in the integration status, and the integration tries to connect again at spaced intervals (10 s, then doubled after each failure, up to 5 minutes). Power on cannot do anything then.
  • The address is the identity of the device: when it changes, a new device appears in Discovery. Hence the fixed IP address.

Commands

Every command is answered within 4 seconds (Gladys waits 5 seconds). A command sent to the device without confirmation is reported "sent, without confirmation"; the state pushed by the device then shows what it did. A command that could not leave is reported "nothing sent": this is the case of every command, Standby included, to a device that is not connected. Standby and mute go before the commands waiting.

Configuration buttons

  • Find the devices: SSDP search by Gladys, then every local address that answers is asked on port 50000.
  • Check the devices: the connection, power and volume of each device, and the cap in force.

Data and privacy

The integration needs no account nor password: Arcam IP control has none. It keeps in /data/arcam.json the list of the known devices (address, model, revision, list options). Nothing leaves your local network.

Known limits

  • Zone 1 only (no zone 2 yet).
  • No radio presets, DAB/FM information, equalizer, balance or display brightness yet.
  • On the ST60, the "Network / USB" input is not shown as a source.
  • Never tested with a real device: the real answers may differ.

Parámetros de configuración

Estos son los parámetros que Arcam te pide en su pantalla de configuración en Gladys.

ParámetroTipoObligatorioDescripción
Your Arcam devices, on your local networksectionNoPower on, standby, volume, mute, source and audio mode of zone 1 of each Arcam AV receiver, processor or amplifier (AVR, AV, SA, ST, PA series...), through its IP control (TCP port 50000), without any cloud. On the device, turn IP control on, and keep the network on in standby to be able to power it on from Gladys. Give each device a fixed IP address in your router and type it below; "Find the devices" can also look for them (optional). The devices then appear in the Discovery tab. The volume set from Gladys never goes above the cap below. Never tested with a real device. Unofficial integration, not affiliated with Arcam.
IP addresses of the devicesstringNoSeparated by commas, for example 192.168.1.40, 192.168.1.41 (port 50000 by default, or 192.168.1.40:50001). Devices found by the search are kept without being typed here.
Volume cap (1 to 99)numberNoThe highest volume Gladys may set, on the scale of the device display (0 to 99; 99: no cap). A higher volume asked by a scene, a voice assistant or the dashboard is set to this cap; unmuting, and powering on from Gladys (until the device reports its volume, 2 minutes at most), also bring a higher volume back to it. The volume set on the device itself (knob, remote, app) is not changed otherwise.

Cómo instalar Arcam en Gladys

¿Todavía no usas Gladys?
