Transitous Departures smart home integration, free and open source

Transitous Departures integration for Gladys Assistant

Nearby public transport departures on the Gladys dashboard, powered by Transitous.

This is the user documentation of the integration. Gladys re-hosts this file and shows a permanent Documentation link to it in the Configuration screen (in the user's language, with English as the fallback) — it is when configuring that the user needs it most. Keep the short onboarding hints in the section blocks of the manifest config_schema; put the long step-by-step (screenshots, troubleshooting…) here.

What you get

Six demo devices show up after installation: a weather station (real data from Open-Meteo), a switch, a dimmable light, a smart plug with power metering, a motion sensor and a camera.

Configuration

  1. Open the Configuration tab of the integration.
  2. Set the latitude and longitude the demo weather station should observe (they default to Paris), and pick your temperature unit. The refresh interval sets how often the weather station and the plug's power are read: every 5 minutes by default, every minute at most.
  3. Save: the devices appear in the Discovery tab, ready to be added.

The Prefer the local connection toggle drives the demo plug: it reports the channel it actually uses as a badge (local or cloud), with an orange dot when it runs degraded (local refused, cloud fallback).

Actions

  • Test the weather provider — performs a live request to Open-Meteo and shows the current temperature and humidity under the button.
  • Identify a device — pick one of your devices in the list and it will signal itself (the demo light "blinks" in the logs).

Scenes

The integration adds its own cards to the scene editor (Gladys 5.1 or later), under the Integrations category:

  • Motion detected (trigger) — starts the scene when a demo motion sensor sees something move. Optionally pick the sensor and what moved (person, animal); left empty, any detection matches. The following actions can read what moved with {{triggerEvent.data.target}}.
  • Identify a device (action) — makes the chosen device signal itself. It returns whether the device could signal itself, so the following actions can depend on it.

Dashboard

Add the Demo status widget to a dashboard: it shows the live temperature of the weather station and the power of the office plug, the connection the plug currently uses (orange when degraded) and the observed location. Its Identify the light button makes the demo light signal itself.

Troubleshooting

The integration logs everything it does: check the integration logs from the Gladys UI (or docker logs on the host) with LOG_LEVEL=debug for the full detail.

Configuration settings

These are the settings Transitous Departures asks for in its configuration screen in Gladys.

SettingTypeRequiredDescription
Widget setup informationsectionNoBefore adding the widget to your dashboard, determine the coordinates of your chosen location. You need latitude and longitude in decimal format, for example 49.350 and 8.690. When adding the widget, you can then configure the search radius, number of departures and refresh interval. The default search radius is 2,000 metres.

How to install Transitous Departures in Gladys

  1. In Gladys, open Integrations: Transitous Departures appears in the catalog, next to the native integrations, with a community badge.
  2. Click Install. Gladys pulls the Docker image (ghcr.io/tomgermany/gladys-transitous-departures:1.0.3), starts it in a sandbox isolated from the core, and generates the integration's interface (devices, discovery and configuration).
  3. Open the Configuration screen of the integration, fill in the settings, and save.
  4. You can also install it directly from its repository URL: https://github.com/tomgermany/gladys-transitous-departures.

Transitous Departures requires Gladys >=5.1.0. The catalog inside Gladys refreshes every hour, so a new version becomes available at most one hour after its release.

Not running Gladys yet? It is free and open source: follow the installation guide to get started.

About external integrations

Transitous Departures is an external integration: a community integration packaged as a Docker container and published on GitHub, that Gladys installs in one click and runs in a sandbox isolated from its core. It is published and maintained by tomgermany, not by the Gladys core team.
