go-e Charger smart home integration, free and open source

go-e Charger integration for Gladys Assistant

go-e Charger EV wallboxes over the local API: charge state, power, energy, current and modes.

Follow and drive your go-e Charger EV charging stations (go-eCharger V3 and V4: HOME+ and HOMEfix V3, Gemini, Gemini flex) from Gladys, over their local HTTP API v2: no cloud needed. The go-e cloud API remains an option for a charger Gladys cannot reach on the local network.

Developed without the hardware: feedback welcome. This integration was written from the go-e API documentation and real answers published by other projects, without a charger at hand. If something looks wrong, open an issue on the GitHub repository with the integration logs.

This integration is not affiliated with go-e GmbH.

Requirements

  • A go-e Charger with a firmware supporting the HTTP API v2 (V3 and later, firmware 051.4 or later). An old go-e Charger V2 (API v1 only) is not supported.
  • The local HTTP API v2 turned on in the go-e app:
    • older app: Internet → Advanced settings → Access to /api/status and /api/set API, then save;
    • newer app: Settings → Connection → API settings → Allow local HTTP API v2.
  • A fixed IP address for the charger, set in your router (DHCP reservation): the integration reaches it by its address.
  • Gladys 5.2.0 or later.

When the API v2 is off, the charger answers but refuses the requests: the Configuration screen then says "the local HTTP API v2 is off" and where to turn it on.

Configuration

  1. Install the integration from Integrations → Install from GitHub (or the store), then open its Configuration tab.
  2. Charger IP addresses: the address of each charger, separated by commas (for example 192.0.2.10, 192.0.2.11).
  3. Refresh interval: how often the chargers are read (15 seconds by default).
  4. Language of the feature names: names given to the features of new devices and language of the error texts (French by default).
  5. Save: one device per charger appears in the Discovery tab. Add it.
  6. The Test the connection button reads every charger and says, for each one, whether it answers (name, serial number, firmware) or why not.

Optional, go-e cloud: only for a charger Gladys cannot reach locally. Turn on the cloud API in the go-e app (Internet → Advanced settings), then enter the charger's serial number and the API token the app shows. The data then goes through go-e's servers.

Refresh and API usage

The integration reads each charger itself, at the chosen interval, with one filtered request (/api/status?filter=…, 16 keys) — go-e advises against reading the full status, and against more than one request per second. Gladys also polls the devices as a fallback; the integration then skips a charger it has just read. Only the values that changed are sent to Gladys, plus every value again every 6 hours so a stable one never shows "no recent value".

The go-e cloud has no documented quota; the same pace applies.

The charger device

FeatureWhat it shows
ConnectorAvailable (no car), Occupied (car plugged in), Unavailable (offline), Faulted (error)
Charging stateCharging, Vehicle connected (waiting), Paused (vehicle): charge complete, Paused (charger): not allowed, Idle
Car plugged in1 when a car is plugged in
Charging powerTotal power, W
Power L1, L2, L3Power per phase, W
Current L1, L2, L3Current per phase, A
Session energyEnergy since the car was plugged in, kWh
Total energyThe charger's meter, kWh: Gladys' energy monitoring computes the consumption and its cost from it
Charging currentCommand: the current offered to the car, from 6 A to 16 A (11 kW) or 32 A (22 kW)
Charging modeCommand: Automatic (app), Forced charge, Forced stop
PhasesCommand, only on chargers able to switch: Automatic, One phase, Three phases
TemperatureThe hottest sensor of the charger, °C
ErrorThe go-e error in words ("None" when all is well)

"Automatic (app)" is go-e's neutral mode: the charger follows what the app decides (schedule, solar "eco" mode, aWATTar prices). Solar charging stays in the go-e app or in evcc: this integration does not duplicate it.

Widget

Add the go-e Charger widget to a dashboard and pick a charger. It shows the live power, the session energy and the charging current, the state in go-e words (Ready, Charging, Waiting for the car, Charge complete, Error), the mode, the phases and the error if any. Four buttons: Charge (forced charge), Stop (forced stop), Auto (back to the app's mode) and Current…, which opens a form to set the current. The current mode carries a check icon.

Scene trigger

go-e charge finished: the car stopped drawing after a charge (it is full, or reached the limit set in the car or the app). Optionally pick the charger. The following actions can use energy_kwh (energy of the session) and charger (its name). It fires once per charge, never at startup.

"Car plugged in" needs no trigger: use the Car plugged in feature (changes to 1) in a "device value" trigger.

Scene action

Set the go-e charging mode: forced charge, forced stop, or back to the automatic mode of the app. The charging current needs no action of its own: it is a feature, set with Gladys' usual "control a device" action.

Scene examples

  • Charge during off-peak hours: at 22:00, "Set the go-e charging mode" to Forced charge; at 06:00, back to Automatic (app).
  • Tell me when the car is full: trigger "go-e charge finished", then send a message "Charge finished: {{triggerEvent.data.energy_kwh}} kWh".
  • Protect the main breaker: when the house power goes over a threshold, set the charging current to 6 A; when it goes down, back to 16 A.

Troubleshooting

  • "No answer": check the address, that the charger is on the Wi-Fi, and that Gladys and the charger are on the same network.
  • "The local HTTP API v2 is off": turn it on in the go-e app (see Requirements), save, then press Test the connection.
  • Cloud: "the go-e cloud refused the token": check the serial number (6 digits) and the token; generating a new token in the app invalidates the old one.
  • A command fails with "the charger refused the request": the current is probably above the maximum set in the go-e app.
  • The integration logs say the rest: set LOG_LEVEL=debug for the detail of every read.

Limits

  • One charger per address; the cloud access serves a single charger.
  • The feature names and the maximum current are fixed when the device is added (a Gladys rule): to change the language, delete the device and add it again.
  • The charger's firmware must be 051.4 or later (filtered reads).
  • No access to the RFID cards, the schedules, the cable lock or the solar settings: they stay in the go-e app. The cable lock is deliberately not exposed.
  • The local API v2 has no password: anyone on your network can use it, as with the go-e app.
  • Tested against a fake charger and published answers only (see the note at the top).

These are the settings go-e Charger asks for in its configuration screen in Gladys.

How to install go-e Charger in Gladys

  1. In Gladys, open Integrations: go-e Charger appears in the catalog, next to the native integrations, with a community badge.
  2. Click Install. Gladys pulls the Docker image (ghcr.io/guim31/gladys-goecharger:1.0.1), starts it in a sandbox isolated from the core, and generates the integration's interface (devices, discovery and configuration).
  3. Open the Configuration screen of the integration, fill in the settings, and save.
  4. You can also install it directly from its repository URL: https://github.com/guim31/gladys-goecharger.

go-e Charger requires Gladys >=5.2.0. The catalog inside Gladys refreshes every hour, so a new version becomes available at most one hour after its release.

Not running Gladys yet? It is free and open source: follow the installation guide to get started.

About external integrations

go-e Charger is an external integration: a community integration packaged as a Docker container and published on GitHub, that Gladys installs in one click and runs in a sandbox isolated from its core. It is published and maintained by guim31, not by the Gladys core team.
