ConnectLife smart home integration, free and open source

Hisense, Gorenje and ASKO appliances of the ConnectLife app: AC, laundry, dishes, oven, fridge.
Overview
This integration brings into Gladys the Hisense, Gorenje and ASKO appliances you control with the ConnectLife app: air conditioners, dehumidifiers, washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers, ovens and refrigerators. It reads them from the ConnectLife cloud, the one the app uses, and drives the air conditioners and dehumidifiers.
It is a community integration, not affiliated with Hisense, Gorenje, ASKO or ConnectLife. ConnectLife has no public API: the integration speaks the protocol of the app, as the community documented it, and may stop working if the manufacturer changes it.
Developed without the hardware: it was written and tested against recorded answers of the ConnectLife cloud, not against a real appliance. Feedback is welcome on the Gladys forum.
Requirements
- Gladys Assistant 5.1.0 or later.
- A ConnectLife account (the e-mail and password of the app), with your appliances already added in the app. Accounts created with Google, Apple or Facebook have no password: add one in the app first.
- Internet access from Gladys: everything goes through the ConnectLife cloud.
Configuration
- Install the integration (Integrations → Install from GitHub if it is not in the store yet).
- In its Configuration tab, enter the ConnectLife e-mail and password.
- Choose the refresh interval (1, 2, 3 or 5 minutes; 2 by default). One request reads all the appliances of the account, whatever their number.
- Choose the language of the feature names (French by default).
- Save: the appliances appear in the Discovery tab. Add the ones you want.
The List my appliances button reads the account at once and says what the integration found: each appliance, its type, whether Gladys can drive it, and whether it is offline.
Appliances
Every appliance gets a Connection feature (online / offline). An offline appliance only updates this one: its other values stay as they were last read.
Air conditioners
Split, portable and window air conditioners:
- Power — on / off, command.
- Mode — auto, cooling, heating, drying, fan, command. Only the modes of the model are offered (window units have no heating).
- Target temperature — 16 to 32 °C (30 °C for window units), command.
- Fan speed — the speeds of the model, command.
- Room temperature and room humidity, when the unit measures them.
A unit set to Fahrenheit is shown and driven in Celsius in Gladys.
Dehumidifiers
- Power — on / off, command.
- Mode — continuous, manual, auto, laundry drying, command.
- Fan speed — low, medium, high, auto, command.
- Room humidity and target humidity (read only: Gladys has no humidity setpoint control).
Washing machines, tumble dryers and dishwashers
Read only:
- Status — off, standby, delayed start, running, paused, finished, error.
- Time remaining — in minutes, 0 outside a cycle.
- Program and Phase — the code the appliance reports ("Program 9"). Their names depend on the model and are not known to the integration.
- Door — open / closed.
Starting a cycle from Gladys is not offered: loading and closing a machine is done in front of it.
Ovens
Read only, on purpose (a heat source): Status, Oven temperature, Time remaining and Door.
Refrigerators
Read only: Fridge temperature and Freezer temperature, with their setpoints, for the compartments the model has. The setpoints are not commands: a wrong value would spoil food.
Other appliances
Hobs, hoods, heat pumps, wine coolers and the types the integration does not know yet are listed with their Connection alone, read only. The List my appliances button shows them as "not supported yet".
Widget
The ConnectLife appliances widget shows one line per appliance (ten at most): the washing machine running with the time left, the dishwasher finished, the air conditioner on, the fridge temperatures, an offline appliance. It follows the language of the dashboard.
Scene trigger
Appliance cycle finished starts a scene when a washing machine, a tumble dryer or a dishwasher ends its cycle. Optionally pick the appliance, or the types of appliance; left empty, any of them matches.
The next actions of the scene can use:
{{triggerEvent.data.device_name}}— the name of the appliance;{{triggerEvent.data.appliance_type}}—washing_machine,tumble_dryerordishwasher;{{triggerEvent.data.duration_minutes}}— the duration the integration saw the cycle run;{{triggerEvent.data.program}}— the program code, when the appliance reports it.
A cycle stopped early by hand does not fire it. The end is seen at the next read of the cloud, so up to one refresh interval late.
Scene examples
- Laundry done: trigger "Appliance cycle finished", type "Washing machine" → send a message "The laundry is ready ({{triggerEvent.data.duration_minutes}} min)".
- Cool the bedroom before bedtime: at 9:30 pm, if the bedroom is above 26 °C → set the bedroom air conditioner to cooling, 24 °C, power on.
- Nobody home: when the last person leaves → turn the air conditioners off.
Troubleshooting
- "ConnectLife refused the e-mail or the password": check them in the app. The integration then stops trying until you save the configuration again: repeated failures lock the account.
- "Accept its updated terms": open the ConnectLife app and accept the new terms; the integration tries again every 30 minutes.
- "The ConnectLife cloud does not answer": the cloud or your internet access is down. The integration tries again at each refresh.
- An appliance is missing: check it in the app, then press List my appliances.
- A value looks wrong: the meaning of some codes depends on the model. Open an issue with the model of the appliance and what the app shows.
- The logs stay quiet in normal operation; set
LOG_LEVEL=debugon the container to see every read.
Limits
- Cloud only: no local control. The values are at most one refresh interval old.
- The ConnectLife cloud has no published quota; the integration reads it once per interval (one request for all appliances) and keeps its login tokens to avoid logging in again.
- Program and phase names are not known: codes only.
- No remote start of washing machines, dryers, dishwashers or ovens, and no fridge setpoint command.
- The European ConnectLife cloud only (the accounts of the app in Europe).
Data and privacy
The e-mail and password stay in the Gladys configuration. The login tokens of the cloud are kept
in the integration's /data volume (file connectlife-tokens.json, readable by the integration
only), tagged with a hash of the e-mail, never with the password. Nothing else is stored, and
nothing is sent anywhere but to the ConnectLife cloud.
Configuration settings
These are the settings ConnectLife asks for in its configuration screen in Gladys.
| Setting | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your ConnectLife account | section | No | Use the e-mail and password of the ConnectLife app. The integration reads your appliances from the ConnectLife cloud; it is not affiliated with Hisense, Gorenje or ASKO. |
| ConnectLife e-mail | string | Yes | |
| ConnectLife password | secret | Yes | |
| Refresh interval | select | No | How often the ConnectLife cloud is read. One request lists all the appliances. |
| Language of the feature names | select | No | Names given to the features of new appliances, and texts such as the status. |
How to install ConnectLife in Gladys
- In Gladys, open Integrations: ConnectLife appears in the catalog, next to the native integrations, with a community badge.
- Click Install. Gladys pulls the Docker image (
ghcr.io/guim31/gladys-connectlife:1.0.1), starts it in a sandbox isolated from the core, and generates the integration's interface (devices, discovery and configuration). - Open the Configuration screen of the integration, fill in the settings, and save.
- You can also install it directly from its repository URL: https://github.com/guim31/gladys-connectlife.
ConnectLife requires Gladys >=5.1.0. The catalog inside Gladys refreshes every hour, so a new version becomes available at most one hour after its release.
Not running Gladys yet? It is free and open source: follow the installation guide to get started.
About external integrations
ConnectLife is an external integration: a community integration packaged as a Docker container and published on GitHub, that Gladys installs in one click and runs in a sandbox isolated from its core. It is published and maintained by guim31, not by the Gladys core team.
