Ariston NET smart home integration, free and open source

Ariston NET integration for Gladys Assistant

Ariston, Chaffoteaux and Elco boilers, heat pumps and water heaters via the Ariston NET cloud.

Control from Gladys the boilers, heat pumps and water heaters of the Ariston group (Ariston, Chaffoteaux, Elco) already connected to the Ariston NET or Chaffoteaux app: temperatures, setpoints, modes, hot water, faults and, when the appliance measures it, gas and electricity consumption.

The integration goes through the Ariston NET cloud (remotethermo), like the official apps: it needs an account and an internet connection. It is not affiliated with Ariston Group.

Developed without the hardware: feedback welcome (Gladys forum or GitHub issue).

What you need

  • Gladys 5.1.0 or later.
  • An appliance already installed and visible in the Ariston NET (or Chaffoteaux) app, with the account (email and password) of that app.
  • Target appliances:
    • boilers and heat pumps with a connected thermostat ("Galevo" system): Genus One, Alteas One, Nimbus, Chaffoteaux INOA, Thision S…;
    • water heaters Velis Evo, Velis Lux / Lux 2, Lydos (Wi-Fi), Lydos Hybrid, Nuos Split, Andris 2.

Configuration

In Integrations → Ariston NET → Configuration:

FieldPurpose
Email, PasswordThe account of the Ariston NET app. The password is a secret: Gladys never shows it.
Language of the namesLanguage of the device and feature names (French by default), set when they are added.
Refresh interval3, 5 (default), 10, 15 or 30 minutes.
Read the faultsFault codes, read every 30 minutes (on by default).
Read the consumptionGas and electricity of last month, read every 6 hours (off by default).

The Test the connection button logs in again, lists the appliances of the account (and the ones not supported) and updates the Discovery tab. Then add the appliances you want from that tab.

Devices

Boiler or heat pump

One device per plant, with what the plant reports:

  • System mode (select, controllable): summer (hot water only), winter, heating only, cooling, off, holiday… only the modes the plant offers;
  • Hot water setpoint (controllable, within the appliance's bounds) and Hot water temperature when a tank probe is fitted;
  • Burner on, Heat pump running, Heating pressure (bar), Outside temperature, Flow temperature;
  • Faults: "No fault" or the list of codes with their description;
  • last month's consumption (kWh): gas and electricity, heating and hot water, when the option is on and the appliance measures it.

Heating zones

One device per zone ("Boiler – Zone 1", or the name given in the app):

  • Temperature measured in the room;
  • Setpoint (controllable): the comfort setpoint, rounded to the appliance's step (often 0.5 °C) and refused outside its bounds;
  • Mode (controllable): Off, Heating (manual), Cooling on a reversible heat pump, Auto (= the schedule of the Ariston app);
  • Heat demand: heating, cooling or idle.

Water heaters

  • Power (controllable);
  • Water temperature;
  • Setpoint (controllable, from 40 °C to the maximum set in the appliance) — except on the Velis Evo, which is set in number of showers in the app;
  • Mode (controllable), translated into the Gladys modes: iMemory = Auto, Green = Eco, Program, Boost, Manual; on the Velis Evo, the Night mode (off-peak hours) shows as Eco; on the Nuos Split, Comfort = Manual and Fast = Boost;
  • Heating and Showers available when the model provides them;
  • on the Velis Lux, Evo and other models of the same generation: Eco (a switch, the learning function of the app, beside the mode), Time left to heat (minutes) and Anti-legionella cycle (on while the cycle runs);
  • Faults.

Widget

The Ariston dashboard widget shows one appliance chosen in its settings:

  • a zone: temperature, setpoint, mode, heat demand, system mode, faults; Lower / Raise buttons (one step) and Schedule / Manual (the current mode carries a check mark);
  • the boiler: hot water, setpoint, pressure, burner, faults; hot water setpoint buttons;
  • a water heater: temperature, setpoint, showers, mode, heating, faults; setpoint buttons, Boost (when the model has it; tapped again, it ends the boost and goes back to the mode before) and on/off.

Scenes

Trigger

Ariston fault detected: an appliance reports a fault code it did not report at the previous reading. Filter by appliance and by code; the scene actions get the appliance, the code, the description and the "blocking fault" flag. A fault already present when the integration starts triggers nothing (no alert at each restart).

Setpoints and modes are controlled with the standard Control a device action of Gladys.

Scene ideas

  • Breakdown alert: "Ariston fault detected" → send a message "Boiler fault {{code}}: {{description}}".
  • Going on holiday: when the last person leaves the house → system mode to Holiday and the water heater to Eco.
  • Off-peak hours: at 10:30 pm → water heater to Boost; at 6 am → back to Auto.
  • Open window: opening sensor open for more than 5 minutes → zone Off; closed again → Auto.

Refresh and service limits

Ariston NET has no documented public API: the integration uses the one of the apps, like the Home Assistant integration. Since 2024 the cloud answers "Requests are blocked for N seconds" (HTTP 429) to accounts that ask too often, and Ariston support says it does not support the use of its API by third-party software. The integration therefore stays frugal:

  • one request per appliance and per refresh (zones and hot water included), every 5 minutes by default, never more often than every 3 minutes;
  • faults every 30 minutes, water heater settings and consumption every 6 hours;
  • one request at a time, at least one second apart;
  • when blocked, no request at all until the delay announced by Ariston is over;
  • only the appliances added to Gladys are read;
  • the login token is kept in /data so a restart does not log in again.

Do not use another home automation system on the same account at the same time: the requests add up.

Troubleshooting

  • "Ariston NET refused the email or password": check them in the Ariston NET app; a password changed in the app must be changed in Gladys too.
  • "Ariston NET is limiting requests": the integration waits and resumes on its own. If it happens often, raise the refresh interval or stop the other tools connected to the same account.
  • An appliance does not show: click Test the connection; the message also lists the appliances not supported.
  • A value stays empty: the appliance does not send it to the cloud, or has not been read yet (wait for a refresh).
  • A command goes back: the cloud sometimes confirms before the appliance; the next reading shows the real value.
  • Detailed logs: environment variable LOG_LEVEL=debug on the container.

Limits

  • Developed and tested without the hardware nor a real account: behaviour checked against answers reconstructed from the reference library.
  • The Elco / Remocon heat pumps of the "BSB" system are not supported yet (they are reported as such).
  • No schedule editing from Gladys: the schedule stays the app's; the Auto mode follows it.
  • No setting of the Velis Evo number of showers, nor of the advanced settings (anti-legionella, Lydos Hybrid night mode, heating curve).
  • The consumption is last month's as the cloud publishes it, not a real-time meter.
  • Depends on the Ariston NET cloud: without internet or during an outage of the service, no reading nor command.

Configuration settings

These are the settings Ariston NET asks for in its configuration screen in Gladys.

How to install Ariston NET in Gladys

  1. In Gladys, open Integrations: Ariston NET appears in the catalog, next to the native integrations, with a community badge.
  2. Click Install. Gladys pulls the Docker image (ghcr.io/guim31/gladys-ariston:1.1.0), starts it in a sandbox isolated from the core, and generates the integration's interface (devices, discovery and configuration).
  3. Open the Configuration screen of the integration, fill in the settings, and save.
  4. You can also install it directly from its repository URL: https://github.com/guim31/gladys-ariston.

Ariston NET requires Gladys >=5.1.0. The catalog inside Gladys refreshes every hour, so a new version becomes available at most one hour after its release.

Not running Gladys yet? It is free and open source: follow the installation guide to get started.

About external integrations

Ariston NET is an external integration: a community integration packaged as a Docker container and published on GitHub, that Gladys installs in one click and runs in a sandbox isolated from its core. It is published and maintained by guim31, not by the Gladys core team.
